Autoboot IDE hard disk driver installer for
  DOS partitioned disks.

Version 0.98 beta - Installer for regular & twisted
   IDE cable
 - dual installer with detecting cable type.

Only TOS 2.06 & Falcon TOS 4.0x supports autoboot
from IDE drives. Earlier versions need TOS patch.
For autoboot from twisted IDE all TOS versions
need patch. Some are available here:
  http://atari.8bitchip.info/IDEhdrvSup.php

Installation is quite simple: run PRG from floppy and
follow instructions. Will install both versions of driver
regardless from cable type while running. No need
for other files by install. But drive (Flash card) must
be partitoned before - do it on PC, take care that all
partitions be FAT16 ....

In case of partitions larger than 32MB you need
BIGDOS.PRG too. Copy BIGDOS into AUTO folder
of C partition right after formatting (init). It must be
located in first 32 MB of partition for correct work.

With BIGDOS max partition size supported is 2GB.
FAT16 partitions, of course. Called BIGDOS parts. too.
Max 14 partitions at once: C-P . Max disk capacity
accessible is 128 GB (Binary).
Support for Master and Slave, both must be DOS
partitioned.

  New feature: CFG file :

File name is: PPHDRV.CFG . It must be placed
in ROOT of partition C - what is current C, and must be
not the first partition on drive (part. swap at driver autoboot).

This driver version looks for 5 entries in PPHDRV.CFG :
If there is entry "Blit" (case sensitive) then will use blitter
for faster reading. Of course only if there is blitter in
 machine.
If there is entry "Wrip" (case sensitive too) in PPHDRV.CFG :
then will disable writings for all partitions.
If there is entry "Hol5" (case sensitive too) in PPHDRV.CFG :
then will set Hole of 512KB in RAM. It is good for some games
like Millennium 2.2. Of course min RAM for it is 1MB.
If there is entry "Ho1M" (case sensitive too) in PPHDRV.CFG :
then will set Hole of 1M in RAM. It is good for some games.
Of course min RAM for it is 2MB.
If there is entry "NXhd" (case sensitive too) in PPHDRV.CFG :
then will not install XHDI. XHDI is actually needed in very rare
cases - for instance by Mint, when DOS type partitioning is,
  what is case here.

All entries in PPHDRV.CFG must be without spaces,
returns, new lines, just one after other.
Content of file is in case of Blitter On and
Write protect on: BlitWrip (8 bytes).
If no CFG file or no correct entries - option(s) will be
not activated - so will be Blitter off, Write protect
off, no Hole and Xhdi on.

Of course it is possible to have different CFG files on
diverse partitions. Active will be that which is on partition
selected as C by driver install.

Because it is not possible to deactivate options
Blit and Wrip when Write protect is activated or when
Blitter works unreliable there is a way to override
their activation:

By driver install, after it shows found partitions press:
W to disable Write protect (force WP off). Press Z to
 force Blitter off.

Then may edit or delete PPHDRV.CFG file.

  This driver version is freeware.
Compatibility: ST, STE, Mega ST, Mega STE, Falcon
  with regular IDE IF.
Most of 'serious' SW will work well.
Not really good for gaming - many games like not
BIGDOS.PRG. Mine later hard diks adaptations too.
So, gamers please use driver versions what need not
BIGDOS or play with this driver from partitons smaller
  than 32MB - without BIGDOS.

Partitioning hints :
-------------------------------------------------------------

Can be done with several DOS, Windows SW.
For instance under Windows XP : Control Panel, Administrative Tools,
Computer Management, Disk Management .

With BIGDOS all partitons must be >32 MB

For TOS 1.04, 1.06, 1.62 and 2.06:
Boot partition cluster size must be between 2KB and 16KB.
So max. size for BOOT PARTITION is 1GB
Other partitions can be up to 2GB using 32KB clusters.

Boot partition means here partition which will be C by pressing proper
letter by driver autoboot - after that it prints "Press key D...P to swap it with part C" .

For KAOS 1.4.2:
Boot partition cluster size must be between 2KB and 32KB.
All partitions, including BOOT PARTITION, can have 2GB using 32KB clusters.

If not using BIGDOS ensure that cluster size is 1KB = 2 sectors, and of course size of partition(s) is under 32 MB .
