Organize Menu:

You use the Organize commands to organize the shapes that you create. You can group shapes together, combine shapes, align shapes to each other, anchor shapes at their positions in an image, and shuffle them forward or backward.


You can also use the Organize menu to display rulers in the image area and place guide lines on your image.

Rulers:

Select the Rulers command to have Eclipse display rulers along the top and left sides of the image area. The rulers use the current unit of measurement (inches, centimeters, points, etc.). To hide the rulers, simply select Rulers again.

Guides:

Use the Guides command to display guide lines in the Alias Eclipse Main window. 


1. Select Guides from the Organize menu.


2. To add a guide, select Add from the submenu.


3.  To place a vertical guide, move the cursor near the top edge of the image area (near the top ruler) and click MB1. To place a horizontal guide, move the cursor near the left edge of the image area (near the side ruler) and click MB1.


4. To delete a guide, select Delete from the Guides submenu, move the cursor to the guide you want to delete, and click MB1.


5. To move a guide, select Move from the Guides submenu, move the cursor to the guide you want to move, and use MB1 to drag the guide.


6. To remove all the guides from the image area, select Clear from the Guides submenu.

Group:

Use the Group command to group shapes together. You can edit a group of shapes as you would a single shape.


1. Select the shapes you want to group. Hold down the Shift key while you select the shapes.


2. Select Group from the Organize menu.


Eclipse draws a single bounding box around all the shapes you selected.


3. To select a group, simply select any shape in the group.


4. To add a shape to a group, first select the group. Hold down the Shift key to select the additional shape, then select Group from the Organize menu.


5. To group two groups together, select the first group, hold down the Shift key and select the second group, then select Group from the Organize menu.

Ungroup:

Use the Ungroup command to break up grouped shapes. If a group consists of other groups, Ungroup breaks it into the component groups.


1. Select the group you want to break apart.


2. Select Ungroup from the Organize menu.


Eclipse breaks the group and highlights each component (either a shape or a subgroup) individually.

Combine:

You use the Combine command with existing, overlapping shapes to create new shapes or combinations of shapes. Depending on whether the shapes are locked or unlocked, a combined shape is either a union or intersection of its component shapes.


1. Select the overlapping shapes you want to combine.


2. Select Combine from the Organize menu.


Eclipse uses the outlines of the selected shapes to create a new, combined shape.

Split:

You use Split to break a combined shape back into its original component shapes.


1. Select a shape that you created with the Combine command.


2. Select Split from the Organize menu.


Eclipse breaks the combined shape into its original components.

Align:

Use the Align to align shapes in your image. You can align shapes vertically and horizontally, and you can align groups of shapes. When aligning shapes, use the Lock push button in the Shapes window to lock the shapes that you do not want to move.


1. Select the shapes you want to align, then select Align from the Organize menu.


2. Select the Horizontal or Vertical push buttons to choose the alignment orientation. You can select both options if you want.


3. Select the type of Horizontal alignment you want: Left, Center, or Right.


4. Select the type of Vertical alignment you want: Top, Middle, or Bottom.


5. Click the Okay button.


Eclipse uses the bounding boxes around the shapes to align them.

Front:

You use the Front command to bring a shape to the top, or front, of your image. When Eclipse redraws your image, it draws the shape at the front of the image last so it appears on top of any other shapes.


1. Select the shape you want to bring to the front.


2. Select Front from the Organize menu.

Forward:

Use the Forward command to bring a shape one level closer to the front of your image.


1. Select the shape you want to bring forward.


2. Select Forward from the Organize menu.

Back:

You use the Back command to push a shape to the bottom, or the back, of your image. When Eclipse redraws your image, it draws the shape at the back of the image first so it appears beneath of any other shapes.


1. Select the shape you want to move to the back.


2. Select Back from the Organize menu.

Use the Backward command to push a shape one level closer to the back of your image.


1. Select the shape you want to move backward.


2. Select Backward from the Organize menu.
