5D.AddGrain

PURPOSE
Adds film grain-type noise to an image.

INPUT CLIP
The clip to which grain is to be added.

COLOUR
Red (Min: 0.0 Max: 100.0 Default: 2.0)
Controls the average amount of red in the grain noise (actually the standard deviation of the red). For many kinds of color film, under 'normal' exposure and development conditions, red is the quietest record (has the least grain).

Green (Min: 0.0 Max: 100.0 Default: 4.0)
Controls the average amount of green in the grain noise. For many kinds of film, green is somewhat noisier than red, but only a little.

Blue (Min: 0.0 Max: 100.0 Default: 20.0)
Controls the average amount of blue in the grain noise. For many kinds of film, blue is by far the noisiest record under normal conditions of use.

GRAIN
Size (Min: 0 Max: 25 Default: 0)
Controls the grain cluster size in pixels. If set to zero, grains do not cluster.

Monochrome (Default: Off)
Off=0: sepparate amounts of grain are added for red, green and blue.
On=1: the grain noise effects red, green and blue equally. The grain strength is the average of Red, Green and Blue.

Bias (Default: Off)
Off=0: the grain is evenly distributed.
On=1: more grain appears in darker areas than in lighter areas. This is generally true for many films.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Grain is treated as additive, normally distributed random noise. If grain size is greater than zero, individual grain pixels are made more likely to occur in clumps with a radius of grain size pixels. If grain size is very large (> 10) processing time will increase significantly. However, even for high-resolution pictures, grain size greater than 5 is likely to look unrealistic, so this is not a problem.
