5D.Flarespot

PURPOSE
FlareSpot simulates the bright shapes sometimes seen in lenses when very bright light sources are in the scene. They are caused by 'non-image-forming light' being concentrated on the surfaces of the lens elements. Often, this makes polygonal shapes, because the very bright light is shaped by the lens diaphragm.

INPUT CLIP
Background clip to draw the flarespot on.

GEOMETRY
Source XY (Default: top right)
The position of the 'light source' end of the 'flare spot line'.

Source Radius (Min: 0.01 Max: 2.0 Default: 0.2)
Controls the size (radius) of the basic flare spot.

Source Sides (Min: 3 Max: 80 Default: 5)
Flare spots often appear to have polygonal shapes (if they are shaped by the lens iris). This controls how many sides the flare spots will have.

Destination XY (Default: bottom left)
The position of the 'image' end of the 'flare spot line'.

SCALE
Minimum (Min: 5.0 Max: 200.0 Default: 20.0)
Scales the radius of flare spots at the 'light source' end of the 'flare spot line'. The scaling used for the flare spots changes from this value to that set with MaxScale. along the length of the flare spot line, changing the size of the spots.
Note that flare spots each have individual sizes before scaling, derived from the geometry of the lens that is causing them.

Maximum (Min: 10.0 Max: 3000.0 Default: 600.00)
Scales the radius of flare spots at the 'image' end of the 'flare spot line'.

APPEARANCE
Brightness (Min: 10.0 Max: 1000.0 Default: 100.0)
Controls the overall brightness of the line of flare spots. Each spot, in general, has a different brightness - this scales the whole lot.

Maximum Saturation (Min: 5.0 Max: 10.0 Default: 50.0)
Controls how saturated the colors in flare spots are allowed to get. Flare spots usually appear pretty washed out.

Defocus (Min: 10.0 Max: 1000.0 Default: 100.0)
Controls how fuzzy flare spots get. As they get bigger, they will get fuzzier. This determines the overall fuzziness. The bigger it is, the fuzzier they are.

Lens (Default:Angulon 21mm)
Selects a lens definition from which the positions and shapes of flare spots are calculated. Four lenses, based on Leica Designs, are currently defined internally:

Edges (Default: On)
On=1: adds density and shading effects near the edges of flare spots.

COLOUR
Bias (Default: On)
Off=0: the full range of hues are used.
On=1: the two colors chosen define the range of hues to be used.

Start Red/Green/Blue (Default: yellow)
End Red/Green/Blue (Default: magenta)
The range of hues to be used when Bias is on.
Note: due to the positioning, scaling and curvature of the lens description, the rendered range may extend further than expected.

ELEMENTS
This is a new feature for v3.0.

More Elements (Default: 1)
Increases the number of elements drawn along the flarespot line. Probably not technically correct for the purists, but rather fetching.
