5D.Morpheus

You will have noticed that the edges of your image can get pulled, dragging in black. The way morpheus works is an accumulating effect over all the image. This means that any movement between S and D will have an affect overall the image area. If the subject you are morphing is going to be keyed over a different background later on, you probably do not need to do anything. If you need to keep the edges in place, currently you will have to tie them down by hand. (Automating this is on the list of tools to add!)

• digitise a line around the edge of the image; if the subject is totally in frame, then complete the rectangle. If, as in this example, the subject cuts the edge of frame, then leave a gap. You can deal with this section separately.
• put the boundary curve into it's own group.
  • change group 0 to 1.
  • make sure the the edge curve is selected - click on any point and the control points will become larger.
  • click on picked to group and the chosen curve is added to group 1. All the other curves remain in group 0.

• the current group is drawn with a solid line, all other groups are drawn with a dotted line.
• do not set any animation for this warp group. This will maintain the the source position throughout.
• you may want to set a mix curve if there is a color change in the background.

If you find that the edges still move too much, which may happen if the subject movement is great, you can force a region around the curve to be locked down. This is when you use the Width controls.

• set G1 Width to the required radius around the curve (measured in pixels) which you do not want to move.
  Note:the G number relates to the Group Number
• you may need to try a few values so you do not start to affect the moving regions.
