A FLEXlm client is defined as a computer relying on the FLEXlm server on the same network to give it the necessary licenses to run your Softimage product. Thus, a FLEXlm client may be on the same computer as the one defined as the FLEXlm server, or on a computer communicating through a port to the server on the same network.
Note: Only computers running Windows and IRIX can be FLEXlm servers.
Different numbers and configurations of servers are possible. For examples of possible configurations with multiple licenses, see the table below:
Multiple Servers
|
Number of servers and licenses |
Number of times you install FLEXlm |
|
One standalone server holding all 10 licenses. |
Once |
|
Two standalone servers. You want five licenses on each. |
Twice. Each server is a separate licensing installation. |
|
Ten standalone servers. You want each to have one license. |
Ten times. Each server is a separate licensing installation. |
|
Redundant servers (one master, two slaves) with all 10 licenses available on each. |
Three times. Each server is a separate licensing installation. |
Note: Softimage redundant licenses are no longer issued for purchased licenses issued to a new license server. Only existing redundant server configurations will continue to be supported.
You must also go through the FLEXlm installation procedures for all server computers, whether they are standalone or redundant servers.
