The blue-green Globetrotter hardware key (also called a dongle) contains the FLEX ID (hardware key number) to which your license encryption keys are locked. If you are entitled to a maintenance upgrade, you do not receive a new hardware key: you receive one only if you are purchasing a new package.
Attach this hardware key to the parallel port of the computer designated as your license server.
The Setup program automatically detects the hardware key and reads the FLEX ID.
Note: If you did not receive a hardware key with your newly purchased package, contact your Softimage Reseller or Sales Representative immediately.
Multiple Hardware Keys
If you receive more than one hardware key from various Softimage product packages, please make sure you use only one on the same license server. Make requests for all your licenses by referencing a single hardware key: the Softimage vendor daemon can only communicate with one key at a time.
