Updating User Information (IRIX only)
The Softimage Setup program creates a .ray2hosts file in your user account directory. If you are running your Softimage product on a network, each user needs an account. If you do not have a user account, you must create one. On IRIX and Linux, you can only use User Tools to modify an existing user account. For instructions on creating user accounts in IRIX and Linux, see the IRIX or Linux man pages.
Tip: Since you are in the process of installing your Softimage product, you may want to refer back to this topic after you are finished with the installation and licensing. To do this:
· On Windows: Choose Start > Programs > Softimage Products > Product Name > Setup Help. Go to "Creating a User Account Directory".
· On IRIX: Go to Programs > Softimage Products > Product Name > Setup Help. From the start page, click "Updating User Information."
· On Linux: Use your web browser to open /Setup/Help/_start.htm from your application directory (for example, /usr/Softimage/ Soft3D_4.0/Setup/Help/_start.htm). Click "Updating User Information."
