Purpose
To display or change the refractive index for the current attribute.
Usage
Click the refrac index box to activate it (red outline). The following
prompt will appear:
![]()
In response to this prompt, type the new value for the refractive
index.
Press <enter> to confirm. If you type a '?' followed by
<enter>, the selection submenu will be displayed where you
can make
your selection from the available file maps for the refractive index.
Comments
The refractive index is the value that indicates to which degree
the
direction of the light is changed when it passes through a surface.
A value
of one causes no change in the angle of the light when it passes
through a
surface. The default value for the refractive index is one. A value
map can
be entered in response to the prompt instead of a single numerical
value.
Examples
Use: 1.00 for air, 1.33 for water, 1.52 for grown glass, 1.65 for flint glass, 1.76 for ruby, 2.42 for diamond.
Index: 0.6 0.8 1.0 1.2 1.4
