track


Purpose
To move the camera forwards and backwards along the axis which runs through the lens of the camera for the currently active window.

Usage
Click the track button to activate it. By holding the middle mouse button down while moving the mouse up or down, the camera in the currently active window will be moved forwards or backwards until you press the left mouse button. If keyboard is active, a numerical entry will be required. You will receive the following prompt in the status area:

track ?

In response to this prompt, type the distance that you want the camera to move forwards (positive value) or backwards (negative value).

Comments
Since the camera tracks only forwards or backwards, the perspective does not change. To change the perspective, you would have to change the angle of the lens by using zoom. track is relative to the current position of the camera.
