Purpose
To insert a new and independent transformation level into the tree.
Usage
Click the add trf level button to activate it.
Comments
How the transformation level is inserted depends on the setting for above/below. When set to above, the transformation level will initially have no transformations: in other words, the transformations (and tag name) will remain on the original node below the transformation level. When set to below, the original node below the transformation level will have no transformations. Its transformations (and tag name) will be moved to the new transformation level above the node. add trf level is meant to be used for adding independent transformation levels during a transformation session, independent of all other transformations.
Example (add trf level above):
When animating a solar system, the earth has to revolve around the sun but also rotate around its own axis. To do so, use a ball solid tagged 'earth'. Make sure above/below is switched to above, select add trf level and tag it 'root-earth'. Move the tag 'root-earth' from the center of 3d-space. Now fix-event for frame 1, rotate 'root-earth' for 360 degrees around the y-axis and fix-event for frame 100; 'root-earth' will now revolve around the center of space (sun). Activate tag 'earth'. This tag has no transformations and will therefore rotate around its own axis. So fix event for frame 1, rotate 'earth' 720 degrees and fix event for frame 100. Select play in the animation menu.
Example (add trf level below):
By adding a transformation level below, it is possible to move an object
through a 3D map (the map remains on the same position while the object is
moving). To do this, select a 3D map for the object (e.g. a Marble map). Select
add trf level below. Now create an animation for the object on this new level.
After rendering the animation, you will see the object moving while the map
remains on the same position.
If you want to animate the map while keeping the object on the same postion,
activate the tag above the object (this is the tag containing the map). Create
an animation for the map (the object will now also transform). Activate the
object and apply the reverse animation. When playing the animation, the object
will not transform. After rendering the animation you will see the map
transforming but the object remains the same.
