Introduction

The general menu is the so-called default menu. This menu will appear after starting up the system. The general menu allows you to reset the system to its default state (after starting), to exit GIG, and to get and save still files (non-animated models) and ani files (animated models).
It is also possible to set projects and to store related solids, stills and animations under a user defined project name.

Solid, still and ani files
A solid file contains all data referring to a particular solid, including all transformation, attribute and light data. A still file contains exactly the same data, plus the three camera positions (3 windows) and global setting such as the page size, etc. An ani file contains the same data as a still file, plus all animation data.
To save still data, 10 files are required: 2 for describing the solid, 6 for the three camera positions, and 2 for the grids. To save ani data 12 files are required: 2 for describing the solid, 6 for the three camera positions, 2 for the grids, and 2 for the animation camera.

Note For information on the directory structure of GIG see Appendix B.
