render 3d

Purpose
To render the current scene to a three dimensional image format (as opposed to normal 2D pictures).

Usage
Click the render 3d button to activate it, you will be asked to enter a file name. The current scene will be rendered to this file in a special 3D format (with extention .vox). When the rendering is finished, the 3D RaySketch tool will start in which the model can be viewed.

Comments
For the best results, reset the camera and scale the model so it fits the view.

The "Mb memory" value specifies the (computer) memory size of this model. If you want a more detailed 3D rendering, you can increase this size to e.g. 2 MB. Note that the 3D Raysketcher will be faster when using less memory. The 3D image files take less space on disk thanks to compression.

While rendering, a message will appear in the status area stating that the rendering process is ongoing and how it can be stopped. To stop the current rendering process and return to the render menu, hold down <Shift> and press <!>. A stopped rendering will not be saved.

3D images will be stored in the 'intdump' directory of the active project. Use show 3d if you want to view the image at a later time.
