backup

Purpose
To backup a project or parts of a project on tape.

Usage
Select the project you want to back up into the source project and select backup. Be sure that there is a tape in the tape drive. Press confirm in the confirmation box. The backup dialogue box pops up. By default the whole project is backed up. Press confirm and wait until the project is stored. If you want only to back up some files from one gig data entry press files, select the files you want to back up and press confirm. If you only want to backup part of a project, you can create a temporary project. Copy the data you want to backup in this project. Back it up and remove it.

restore

Purpose
To retrieve a project or parts of a project from tape in a new project.

Usage
Create a new project in the destination project part or select the project into which you want to store the data from tape. Note that data with the same name will be overwritten! Select restore. Be sure that there is a tape in the tape drive. Press confirm in the confirmation box. Now the tape will be read for names. These will be displayed in the source part. The label of the project will be CARTRIDGE. If the tape is searched, the restore dialogue box pops up. By default the whole project is restored. If you want only restore a few files from one entry, select this entry in the gig data column. Select the files from the source and press confirm and wait until the files are restored.

show

Purpose
To show the images of the selected files. It has the same effect as the command line utility `show'. The images will be shown in the center of the screen.

Usage
Clicking on the image with a left mouse click will show you the next selected image. If there is no next image to show the show function is finished. The supported file formats that can be shown are: tiff (.tif), targa vista (.vst and .tga), and scitex handshake (.hnd, .hn1, and .hn2)

update

Purpose
To save time when performing actions on a large set of files.

Usage
Normally when a series of animation files have to be moved, copied or deleted, some checks are made for each file and the listbox is updated so the user can see the progress of the actions. However this also requires a lot of overhead. When a lot (more than 50) of files are selected the update check button can suppress the update after each file. Selecting the update button again will let everything update.

move

Purpose
To move the selected file(s) in the source directory to the destination directory.

Usage
Select file(s) in the source directory. Select the destination directory and select move.

copy

Purpose
To copy the selected file(s) from the source directory in the destination directory.

Usage
Select file(s) in the source directory. Select the destination directory and select copy.

delete

Purpose
To delete the selected file(s) in the one of the two directories.

Usage
Select file(s) in one of the listboxes. Select delete. A confirmation dialogue box will pop up. After selecting yes, the selected files will be deleted.

data functions

Purpose
By selecting one of the items in the gig data column, the list boxes of the source and destination projects will show their contents. The left column contains still related items, while the right column contains animation related items. Furthermore the items are grouped: stills and animations, image files, Texture Editor files, still and animation parts files, tools files and imported converted files.

Usage
A selection of the items in the listbox can be made. By selecting one of the operation buttons, the operation will be performed on the selected items in one of the list boxes.
