TABLET INSTALLATION

Note: If you have a Cintiq Interactive Pen Display tablet,
please refer to your Installation Guide and User's Manual
for information on installing your tablet hardware.

For other tablet models, first shut down your computer and
install the tablet hardware:

1. If needed, connect the tablet cable to an appropriate
    adaptor. (When using the adaptor for DB-9 connectors,
    be sure to connect the end labeled Wacom to your
    Intuos2 tablet cable.) Connect the tablet cable (or the
    adaptor, if used) to an unused serial communication port.

2. Connect the AC power cable. Connect the Wacom
    power adaptor to an AC outlet or power strip. If your
    tablet has a power switch, turn it on. The tablet LED
    will light.

Then install your tablet software:

1. Turn on your computer and login as the "root" user.

2. Remove any old Wacom tablet drivers that may have
    been installed with the Software Manager. At the
    command prompt, enter: <swmgr> In the Software
    Manager window, select: "Manage Installed Software";
    then select the products with the word "wacom" in their
    titles; then select "Start".

    Note: Do not omit this step -- some software applications
    install older Wacom drivers by default and your
    computer may have one without you being aware of it.

3. At the command line, enter <cd SGI>

4. To see the software release version, enter <ls>

5. At the command line, enter <./INSTALL_WACOM>
    This will activate the SGI Software Manager, which is
    used to install the Wacom tablet software.

6. Click Start to begin the default installation.

7. Follow the prompts in the Software Manager.

8. After installing the tablet driver software, restart your
    computer. After restarting your computer, you should be
    able to use your Wacom Pen on the tablet to move the
    screen cursor.

    Note: You must have already installed Adobe Acrobat
    Reader before you can view the electronic User's
    Manual and online Help. To read the User's Manual or
    Help before installing the tablet, issue one of the
    corresponding commands:
    For Intuos2:
        <acroread SGI/opt/intuos_manual.pdf>
        <acroread SGI/opt/intuos_help.pdf>
    For Cintiq:
        <acroread SGI/opt/pl_help.pdf>

For additional information on connecting the Wacom tablet
to your system, refer to the installation sheet that came with
your tablet.
